Holocaust survivor and Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel dies at 87

Multiple news outlets are reporting Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel has died at the age of 87.

Yad Veshem, a world center for Holocaust research and documentation, reported the news on Twitter Saturday. Haaretz, Israel’s oldest daily newspaper, also reported his death. 


Wiesel’s mother and youngest sister died at Auschwitz, according to CNN. His two older sisters survived. Wiesel wrote the book “Night” about his experience in Auschwitz and Buchenwald.

He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986 and founded the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity a year later.What others are clicking on:
