COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) –  The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 have reopened east of downtown after a deadly crash.

The crash happened shortly before 3:30 a.m on I-70 near Alum Creek Drive.

According to Columbus police, one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not say whether there were any injuries outside of the fatality.

Police initially closed the freeway at Alum Creek Drive, but later expanded to closure and diverted traffic off at I-71. The road reopened shortly before 5:30 a.m.
