Columbus (WCMH) – We are getting ready for the coldest night of the season so far, with lows in the 30s and a frost possible for many spots overnight. Frost advisories are in effect overnight tonight as well.Frost advisory in effect from 3am Friday – 9am Friday:
Low temperatures are going to be the coldest in most spots they have been since our last freeze in mid-May:
So when temps warm-up this weekend and push near 80 next week can we call this an “Indian Summer”?
No… not by definition. Indian Summer is a term that has been around since the 1700s! Typically Indian Summer has been referred to as the warm, dry patter of weather that follows the first killing frost and/or freeze.
So yes, we will have a very good chance of a frost overnight tonight in many spots, but will it be a freeze or a killing frost? Probably not.
We will see quite a big warm-up heading into the weekend and the start of next week could feature 80s. So technically, it will not be a a true “Indian Summer” in most spots, but I don’t think anyone is going to argue you if you claim it is next week.
If you have any questions about Indian Summer, frost, freezes, cold temps, or any other weather, send me an email: dmazza@wcmh.com or shoot me a social message @davidnbc4
Stay warm tonight, and enjoy the “almost” Indian Summer this weekend and next week 🙂
