CLEVELAND (WKYC/WCMH) – The Cleveland Indians may not have won the World Series, but one player has one reason to celebrate tonight.

On Tuesday, Major League Baseball announced that Cleveland shortstop Francisco Lindor won his first American League Gold Glove. Lindor carried a .982 fielding percentage over 155 games. He started in 153 of those games. Lindor also registered 215 putouts and 477 assists over 1,365 innings. He was involved in 83 double plays and only committed 12 errors.

Lindor is the first Cleveland player in almost a decade to receive a Gold Glove. Grady Sizemore was the last Indians player to receive the award, winning two back to back in 2007 and 2008. The last Indians shortstop to win the award was Hall-of-Famer Omar Vizquel, who holds the franchise record with eight awards.
