COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Items from a boarded-up supermarket will be donated to charity, the Columbus Division of Police announced Wednesday.
The Eagle Supermarket on Cleveland Avenue was closed Nov. 30 after the Franklin County Environmental Court deemed the market “an unsafe place, posing a great risk of physical harm to residents, police officers, and [its own] business patrons and staff.”
CPD says the market’s non-perishable items were given to several charities in the Linden area, who will distribute the items to those in need in the community.
In 2016, police responded to the Eagle Carryout more than 100 times for incidents that included gun and weapons violations, assaults, drug and alcohol violations, disturbances, illegal drug transactions, and other suspicious activity.
