LOUISVILLE, KY (WCMH) — A Kentucky judge directly called the director of corrections when a female inmate showed up to court only wearing only gym shorts and a long shirt after being in custody for days.

According to WDRB, Judge Amber Wolf was conducting a hearing Friday morning, when the female inmate appeared in the courtroom, apparently not wearing any pants.

“What the hell is going on?” Wolf asked out loud during the hearing.

Wolf then pulled out her cell phone and called the Metro Corrections Director Mark Bolton to ask him why the inmate had no pants.

Jail officials said the woman hadn’t been in custody long enough to be given a jail jumpsuit, and that she was wearing a pair of athletic shorts that was covered by a long shirt.

“This is pretty standard that when individuals are arrested, they remain in the clothing that they’ve been arrested in,” Steve Durham, a spokesman for the jail told WDRB. “Especially for the first 72 hours.”

The woman, who was in custody for not completing a diversion program for a 2014 shoplifting case, was covered up during the proceeding, and was given a $100 fine and released.

“Am I in the twilight zone? What is happening?” the judge asked at one point during the video.

Wolf apologized to the woman after she was brought clothing to cover herself.

“This is not normal,” she said. “I’ve never seen it happen. … This is completely inhumane and unacceptable. I’m sorry you had to go through this.”
