MILLERSPORT OH (WCMH)–The Ohio Department of Natural Resources will provide an update Thursday on the dam at Buckeye Lake.
Officials wouldn’t provide details, but a video posted by Governor John Kasich on Twitter says there will be some “exciting news.”
He said to expect an announcement from Jim Zehringer — Director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
The governor’s office and Zehringer’s office did not return calls for comment.

For many people along the lake’s north shore, whose view from home is a fence, it’s hard to get excited. After all, it’s been more than a year since construction began on the dam.
Patty McLoughlin says she hopes the governor say he will close the floodgates, or just that he sympathizes with the residents.
“I would like him [Kasich] to say that he understands that the residents here have really gone through a lot of trauma,” she says.
“I don’t know what it could be because the good news would’ve been to close the gates a month or two ago and let Mother Nature fill our lake again. That’s the only way she gets filled, so if they close the gates now, we have to pray for rain. We have to have rain dances to have rain fill it up, because between now and August, there’s not much rain.”
So tonight, Buckeye Lake sleeps with skepticism, unsure exactly what tomorrow will bring. What others are clicking on:
