COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)–The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium announced Friday that Moondani the koala died earlier this week.

The Zoo said Moondani was 17, though the average life expectancy of a male koala is just around 10 years. He came to the Zoo in 2004.

“The animal care team says he always enjoyed a good back scratch and would shake his leg in delight,” the Zoo team wrote on Facebook.

“Moondani will be greatly missed.”
