Koala dies at Columbus Zoo, had lived seven years past life expectancy

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)–The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium announced Friday that Moondani the koala died earlier this week.

The Zoo said Moondani was 17, though the average life expectancy of a male koala is just around 10 years. He came to the Zoo in 2004.


“The animal care team says he always enjoyed a good back scratch and would shake his leg in delight,” the Zoo team wrote on Facebook.

“Moondani will be greatly missed.”
