COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Forgotten 4-paws is a central Ohio animal rescue organization that has been around for 20 years.

“We have 80 to 90 cats in our foster homes between the ages of 9-16 mostly and kittens and a special needs dog,” says Brooke Benedict. “We’re just small, and we’re just one.”

But this one small organization has made a huge difference. Not only do volunteers help neglected and abused animals, they also help people find the means to spay and neuter their pets,

“It is such an easy fix to spay and neuter,” says Benedict. “A lot of places offer low cost solutions or depending on your situation, some places give vouchers to have it done for free.”

The organization runs on donations only. Right now, they’re asking for your shoes. It’s part of a fundraiser which the organization can get $1,000.

“They take the shoes. They go to various facilities in the United States and sort them,” Benedict explains. “They then send them to countries Bolivia, Uganda, Haiti, and local people there sell the shoes to support their families”

The goal is to collect 2,500 shoes. Right now, they only have 250. That’s why they really need your help.

The shoe or boot drive is going on from now to May 15th at various locations across central Ohio. If you want more information, you can go to forgotten4paws.org.
