COLUMBUS (WCMH) – The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation was off the ice and working in the grass Wednesday.
Staff and former players spent the day building a new park at the Barnett Community Center.
In 2016, the foundation pledged a $400,000 grant to build eight parks throughout Central Ohio.
In addition to slides, a swing set and a play place, the playground also features some hockey décor.
“We showed up here today and there was nothing. And now, there is a park. It’s rewarding because now the kids in this area are going to have a place to play and hang out,” said Jody Shelley.
The playground is the fourth built so far.
