FRANKLIN COUNTY, OH (WCMH) — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was found in a wooded area on the south side.

According to the Sheriff’s office, a deputy was following up on an investigation into a January 22 hit and run crash. The Sheriff’s office said the deputy attempted to contact the registered owner of the vehicle involved in the crash. The deputy was told that the person had not been seen in about a week. No missing persons report was filed.

The body was found when the deputy began to retrace the incident from the report.

The body has been taken to the Franklin County Coroner’s Office and is awaiting identification.

The Ohio Bureau of Investigation and Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
