DUBLIN, Ohio (WCMH) — A 94,000-square-foot Tesla building in central Ohio is now under new ownership after a $17.8 million sale.
The Tesla collision center at 5600 Britton Parkway in Dublin sold on April 4 to Automotive Properties, a Toronto real estate investment trust known for acquiring car dealerships and service centers. The site, where Tesla will remain as a tenant, adds to the company’s portfolio of nearly 80 Canadian properties.
Milton Lamb, CEO of Automotive Properties, announced in February that the trust entered into an agreement to buy the site and said the purchase “is consistent with our focus on owning and acquiring attractive automotive properties in growing metropolitan markets.”
“This acquisition will further increase our exposure to Tesla and the electric vehicle market in North America,” Lamb said in a release at the time. “We currently own six automotive properties in urban markets in Canada that are tenanted by Tesla.”
The six-acre property turned into a Tesla collision center after the previous owner purchased it for $8.1 million in August 2022, Franklin County Auditor’s Office records show. The site’s building was constructed in 1996 and previously served as a long-time Value City Furniture location.
Like all Tesla collision centers, the Dublin property performs cosmetic fixes, light collision work and full structural repairs, the company’s site states.
Automotive Properties acquired a second U.S. property on April 14, a Rivian Service Center in Tampa, Florida, that the trust bought for $13.5 million. The 2.75-acre site is home to a 25,000-square-foot building and is in close proximity to the Tampa International Airport, the trust said when announcing the sale’s completion.
Tesla operates numerous central Ohio charging stations along with a dealership and service center at 4099 Easton Loop West in Easton, one of several sites across the nation where protestors gathered this spring to rally against Elon Musk, the company’s CEO who holds a lead role in the United States’ Department of Government Efficiency.
Other Ohio Tesla dealership and service centers are located in Cincinnati and Cleveland.
