MASSILLON, Ohio (WCMH) — An Ohio documentary filmmaker whose projects delve into the world of the strange and unexplained has a new film available for streaming that continues his five-year search for Sasquatch.

In a news release, Seth Breedlove, founder of production company Small Town Monsters, announced his work “On the Trail of Bigfoot: The Ancients” is joining the STM catalog on Prime Video. The film is the latest installment in his “On the Trail” series, which began with “On the Trail of Bigfoot” in 2019.
According to the STM website, Breedlove and his associates are responsible for more than 20 movies, numerous online series, podcasts, books, and other content centered on creature sightings, mysterious phenomena, legends, and other spine-chilling fare.
In “The Ancients,” Breedlove returns to his ancestral homeland in the Smoky Mountains, accompanied by his father Ronnie. Together, the two create “a heartfelt and exhaustive exploration of the area’s history and the rich folklore surrounding it.” Fellow STM collaborator Mark Matzke and local Sasquatch investigators Matt Pruitt and Russ Jones participate in the documentary.
In addition, in this “personal journey” Breedlove talks to his family members from the area, as well as people who have lived in the region for many years, and knowledgeable researchers including Micah Hanks, Jakeli Swimmer, Adam Davies and Jeff Carpenter.
The opening of the trailer for the picture relates an eerie tale of mountain tradition.
“I talked to someone the other day and I said, ‘What are some of the things in your family history that was passed down to you?’ ‘Whistling, we never go in the woods and whistle. I wasn’t allowed to,’” a man explains in the clip. “And then she said, ‘We closed, always closed our window blinds because we didn’t want the boogeyman … to come in.’”
Also shared in the film’s preview are several fascinating facts and theories from Bigfoot experts.
“When I went through the report database, there was an inordinate amount of sightings in this area compared to almost any other area in Appalachia,” states one specialist.
And the most unnerving segments included in the minute-and-a-half promo are the eyewitness accounts.
“We drove up, I stopped because there were two of them, I always felt like it was a mom and a kid,” a woman relates about her encounter.
“The Ancients” is available on Prime Video for $2.99 to rent or $10.99 to buy. DVD & Blu-ray Disc are also available at smalltownmonsters.com/shop.
