JACKSON, Ohio (WCMH) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is searching for a red, or possibly maroon Dodge Dakota after an alleged hit-skip in which a 2-year-old child suffered severe injuries.
The crash occurred Tuesday night just after 8 p.m. in Jackson County, near the 6100 block of State Route 93 in Madison Township. Troopers from the Jackson Patrol Post of the OSHP responded to a residence where a 2-year-old boy was struck by what is believed to be a red Dodge Dakota.
The Dodge was traveling southbound and continued off the right side of the road before coming to a stop after it struck the boy in front of his home. As the father of the child tended to his son, the vehicle drove away, continuing southbound.
The victim was taken to Adena Regional Hospital in Chillicothe before being flown to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
Troopers said the fleeing vehicle is a 2005-2011 crew-cab, 4-door pickup truck, but the identity of the driver is unknown. Anyone with information regarding the vehicle or the driver is asked to call the OSHP Jackson Patrol Post at 740-286-4141.
