COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A Columbus City school bus crashed into a ditch along Interstate 270 Monday morning on the city’s east side.

Columbus police said that one person was taken to an area hospital after the bus veered off the right side of the road and fell on its side on I-270 South just past the Morse Road exit ramp.

It was reported that no kids were on board the bus, which crashed just before 9 a.m. Police did not report any other injuries and I-270 South remained open while crews worked to clear the scene.

The bus crash followed three fatal crashes within a 12-hour period in the Columbus area. Earlier Sunday a seven-year-old child was killed after falling out of an SUV and was then run over. That was followed by a two-car collision on Cleveland Avenue in Minerva Park, and a head-on collision between a vehicle and a semi truck on Interstate 70 in east Columbus.
