COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – With temperatures projected to be in the 90s next week, Columbus Parks and Recreation is extending its pools’ hours and opening five cooling centers around the city to help residents beat the heat.
The following cooling centers will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. beginning Monday, July 15, until the heat subsides:
- Dodge Community Center, located at 667 Sullivant Ave. in Franklinton.
- Driving Park Community Center, located at 1100 Rhoads Ave. in Driving Park.
- Glenwood Community Center, located at 1888 Fairmont Ave. in Highland West.
- Linden Community Center, located at 1350 Briarwood Ave. in North Linden.
- Marion Franklin Community Center, located at 2801 Lockbourne Road. in South Side.
The department’s scheduled activities at the centers will continue as usual.
Additionally, starting July 15, the department’s pools will open daily for the extended hours of 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. until the weather cools down. The $1 admission will be waived during that time. The following outdoor pools will have extended hours:
- Driving Park Pool, located at 1100 Rhoads Ave. in Driving Park.
- Glenwood Pool, located at 1925 W. Broad St. in Highland West.
- Lincoln Pool, located at 545 E. Woodrow Ave. in Lincoln Park.
- Marion Franklin Pool, located at 2699 Lockbourne Road. in South Side.
- Maryland Pool, located at 1380 Atcheson St. in Mt. Vernon.
- Tuttle Pool, located at 240 W. Oakland Ave. in North Campus.
- Windsor Pool, located at 1300 Windsor Ave. in South Linden.
Columbus Parks and Recreation stated capacity limits may be enforced, a free Leisure Card is still required for admission and proper swim attire is required. The Blackwood, Linden, North Bank and Scioto Southland spraygrounds (interactive fountains) will also be open daily from noon to 8 p.m., free of charge.
