COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — One person has died after a shooting in east Columbus on Wednesday.

Authorities responded to a business in the 1400 block of South Hamilton Road at about 1:52 p.m. on Wednesday after a report of a shooting, according to the Columbus Division of Police. The victim was transported to Mount Carmel East hospital with life-threatening injuries, where they were pronounced dead at 2:27 p.m.

Police said the suspect approached the building when they began firing shots. The identities of the victim and the suspect have yet to be released.

This is the first of two deadly shootings in Columbus within hours of each other Wednesday. The second was reported on the 2200 block of McGuffey Road at approximately 4:59 p.m. The victim was pronounced dead at Grant Medical Center at 5:23 p.m.

This is also the fourth of at least five shootings in Columbus in 24 hours.
