COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Old Towne East building recently home to Mikey’s Late Night Slice has found a new tenant: a family-owned Italian restaurant and pizzeria.

Osteria Pizzeria is now welcoming customers at 892 Oak St. after hosting a grand opening celebration earlier in April. The pizzeria marks the second Oak Street restaurant for Osteria’s owners, who also operate Old Towne Tavern across the street and several other Columbus eateries, like The Walrus, Pecan Penny’s and The Woodbury.

The Osteria menu features a selection of starters, salads and house specialty pizzas, like the “Numero Uno” with pepperoni, ricotta, banana pepper, hot honey and shredded mozzarella. Subs, cocktails and pastas, like Pesto Pappardelle and Tagliatelle Bolgnese, round out the offerings.

The pizzeria had announced it would take over the Oak Street space last June, after Mikey’s said it would permanently shutter. Since then, the Columbus pizza empire has expanded in several other central Ohio neighborhoods.

Mikey’s took over the Weenie Wonder locations last fall next to Pins Mechanical Co. at Easton and in Dublin’s Bridge Park. The pizza joint swooped in after Weenie closed both locations in February 2024. Another location at University Square along High Street also opened last fall, designed to be the flagship storefront for the chain’s new approach targeting college campuses.

The pizzeria’s other locations dot neighborhoods across Columbus, including with a pizza-only food truck at Oddfellows and a limited menu inside Hollywood Casino Columbus. The pizza shop also has one location in Cincinnati.

Osteria is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
