COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A former Columbus police officer pleaded guilty Monday to stealing funds from the office through unworked overtime pay.

Austin Przymierski pleaded guilty to one count of theft, a fifth-degree felony. He paid back the full restitution but will no longer be allowed to serve as an officer due to the charge. An additional count of theft in the office was dismissed as part of the plea deal, the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Court documents said that in 2022, Przymierski put in overtime hours he did not work between July and November. He was paid over $29,000 for the unworked overtime.

Przymierski also allegedly used a division gas card to pay for gas for his personal vehicles in 2022, spending over $2,000, per court documents.
