COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center has announced that its kennels are full and is asking the community for help.

In a social media post, the agency stated it is now caring for more than 300 dogs and offered a few ways pet lovers can assist in alleviating stress on the facility.

The shelter made the following suggestions:

• Adoption – Now through April 30, all dogs six months of age and older can be adopted for just $18.

• Sleepovers – Families can host a shelter dog for a sleepover even if they are unable to adopt. The shelter says sleepovers provide invaluable information on the dog’s personality and help free up space in the kennel. All supplies needed are provided.

• Donations – Currently, there is a need for LARGE/XL dog crates for dogs in foster homes, soft and chewy dog treats, as well as dry dog food of any brand or size to support the free Community Pet Pantry.

• Lost and found dogs – All lost dog reclaim fees have been waived and free microchips will be provided for all dogs being reclaimed by their families this month.

The shelter noted that no appointment is required to visit the dogs and walk-ins are welcome. Additionally, adoptions, foster-to-adopts, sleepovers and lost dog reclaims can be completed the same day.
