COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – While there’s a variety of taco chains and restaurants in Columbus, a list of the highest-rated spots in the city according to Yelp is dominated by authentic Mexican food trucks and local businesses.
Taking the number one spot is Steph’s Way, located at 177 S. Cypress Ave. in the Franklinton neighborhood. The pick-up and delivery-only eatery serves wings, burgers, tacos and salads.
“Hands down some of the best tacos I’ve EVER HAD! That sauce [and] seasoning is addictive!” one Yelp-user wrote.
Coming in second place is Catrina Mexican Cuisine, located at 2785 Ferris Road in the Westbrook neighborhood. The restaurant serves authentic Mexican food, including tostadas, empanadas, enchiladas and more. Reviews praise the restaurant’s “delicious” and “traditional” dishes.
The third highest-rated taco joint in the city is AJ’s Tacos, a food truck located at 3689 W. Broad St. in the Westland neighborhood. The food truck is known for its birria ramen and tacos.
In fourth place is Los Agavez Taqueria, a food truck located at 3166 N. High St. in South Clintonville. Along with tacos, the food truck serves quesadillas, tortas and burritos.
“Los Agavez tacos are out of this world,” one review reads. “I haven’t had a single bad item yet. These are seriously the best birria tacos in Columbus, they stay crispy, the consomé is rich and flavorful, and the salsas are the perfect addition.”
The fifth highest-rated tacos in Columbus can be found at Lupita’s Mexican Cuisine and Bar, located at 1586 S. High St. in Merion Village. The restaurant serves a variety of tacos, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas and nachos. Reviews compliment Lupita’s good customer service and its complementary salsa trio and bean dip.
Taking sixth place is food truck Taqueria Jalisco, located at 4640 Cleveland Ave. in the Minerva Park neighborhood. Reviews praise the truck's al pastor tacos and fast service.
Coming in seventh place is Taqueria Los Primos, a food truck located at 233 W. Fifth Ave. in the Victorian Village neighborhood. The taco truck serves tortas, burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas, tamales and more. Yelp-users highlight Taqueria Los Primos’ reasonable prices and “flavorful” food.
The eight highest-rated taco joint is Tacos D’kache, located at 734 Garden Road in the Beechwold neighborhood. Reviews rave about the eatery’s “vampiros” and expansive meat choices, including beef tongue.
The ninth highest-rated taco spot is Tacos and Beer, located at 2348 Stringtown Road in Grove City. As the name suggests, the restaurant serves tacos and a Mexican beer selection.
“The food and service are always top notch. Ingredients are fresh and each dish is super flavorful,” one Yelp-user posted.
In tenth place is El Ranchito, located at 1275 Brown Road in the South Hilltop neighborhood. The restaurant serves gorditas, tacos, tostadas, burritos and quesadillas. Reviews praise the restaurant’s “authentic” Mexican food and friendly service.
