COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Another central Ohio hospital is now equipped to give families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss the gift of more time with their little loved ones.

OhioHealth Doctors Hospital received a new CuddleCot — a cooling bassinet that allows grieving families to spend more time with a baby they’ve lost. It was gifted by The Harbour Knoxx Peabody Foundation, which was established in honor of Michael and Elizabeth Peabody’s son, who was born still Dec. 7, 2022.

During the dedication ceremony for the cooling device, Elizabeth shared that her family had access to and used a CuddleCot, which she said gave her, her husband, parents and other children nearly a week to create lasting memories with Harbour.

“We did everything,” Elizabeth said. “I sang to him, I read him a poem, I read him a couple books, told him how much he was wanted, how much he was loved. So, without the CuddleCot, I wouldn’t have got that. You know? So, I hope that every hospital gets a CuddleCot.”

The donation from The Harbour Knoxx Peabody Foundation was made in part with Ashlie’s Embrace. Both organizations are partners of Miles’ Mission, a non-profit organization led by NBC4’s Jennifer Bullock and her father, Dr. Michael Bullock, after the stillbirth of Jennifer’s son, Miles Owen, in October 2021.
