COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A man who was charged for his role in a 2024 mass shooting in the Short North was sentenced Tuesday to community control.

Michael Duane Wright Jr. pleaded guilty to charges of tampering with evidence and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, according to court records.

The charges were in connection with a June 2024 shooting in the Short North that injured 10 people. Wright was arrested by U.S. Marshals about a month later. Watch previous coverage in the player above.

Wright was sentenced to 36 months of community control on each charge. The sentences will run concurrently. He would be eligible for a reduced sentence after 24 months.

If Wright violates the community control, he would face prison time.
