COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A man pled guilty Tuesday to murder charges in a 2022 fatal shooting at a north Columbus restaurant.
Jesus Armando Tejeda-Castro, 20, pled guilty to one count each of aggravated murder with a 3-year firearm specification and felonious assault in connection with the fatal shooting inside a Roosters restaurant on East Dublin Granville Road on Feb. 18, 2022.
As part of the plea agreement, Tejeda-Castro was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 28 years. An eight-year sentence for the felonious assault charge will be served concurrently, according to online court documents.
Tejeda-Castro pled guilty to killing 18-year-old Marshawn Davis as Davis stood in the vestibule of the restaurant.
After he was shot, Davis and another person ran into the restaurant as the suspect — later identified by police as Tejeda-Castro — ran away from the restaurant.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the court documents, Tajeda-Castro and Davis knew each other after attending school together for several years, and witnesses told police that Tajeda-Castro at one point had threatened to shoot and kill Davis.
