COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – One person is dead after a single-car crash early Wednesday morning on the east side of Columbus.
According to police at the scene of the crash the male victim was pronounced dead at the scene after the vehicle crashed at East Main Street and Wilson Avenue in the Franklin Park neighborhood. The driver was later identified as 56-year-old Kevin Foster.
Police said officers responded to the crash at about 1:50 a.m. The car, a 2013 Honda Accord, was reportedly traveling west on East Main Street where it appears Foster lost control for unknown reasons and struck several poles before coming to a stop at the intersection.
Severe damage to the car, which police say was “sheared in half”, could be seen on the front and rear, with the back tires being dislodged from the vehicle and the front bumper torn off.

East Main Street was closed in both directions for several hours before reopening at around 6:45 a.m. though the crash remains under investigation.
