COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – One person is dead and another is injured after a crash in west Columbus on Friday evening.

Authorities responded to a crash on the 1600 block of Sullivant Avenue in the Hilltop area around 7:18 p.m. Two people were transported to Grant Medical Center in unknown condition, according to Columbus Division of Fire Chief Jeff Geitter. One male was pronounced dead at 8:38 p.m.

Columbus police said the crash occurred when a white Scion xB was traveling west on Sullivant Avenue approaching Ryan Avenue. The driver lost control of his vehicle and traveled into the eastbound lane then swerved back into the westbound lane and struck a utility pole on the north side of the road, according to police.
