COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – One person is dead after a vehicle slammed into a tree in north Columbus early Wednesday morning.

According to Columbus police, a person driving a white Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Busch Boulevard just past the Shapter Avenue intersection at around 1:05 a.m. Police said for reasons still unknown, the car swerved northwest across the center median and into the southbound lanes.

The vehicle then reportedly struck a tree on the western side of Busch Blvd. and medics took the victim to an area hospital. The adult victim was pronounced dead at 1:44 a.m.

The Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene and continue to seek information as to what caused the crash.
