COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Columbus Police have arrested a 53-year-old man as a suspect in an east Columbus shooting overnight Saturday where one woman was shot.

CPD report that officers went to the 1000 block of Country Club Rd. at 2:30am and found a 48-year-old woman shot.

She was transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital in critical condition, per police.

According to police, the woman was with 53-year-old Rodney Vanatta inside a van where Vanatta allegedly shot her.

Detectives have charged and arrested Vanatta for felonious assault, per CPD.

Police state that due to the severity of the woman’s injuries, the investigation will be led by the Columbus Police Homicide Unit.
