Pelotonia opens registration, announces new event

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Pelotonia announced a brand-new event as the biking fundraiser officially kicked off 2025 registration for the ride.

Pelotonia hosted an open house Wednesday at its new office inside the Energy Advancement and Innovation Center on Ohio State’s campus, next to the Pelotonia Research Center, to celebrate the launch of registration day.

In addition to ride weekend in August, Pelotonia announced a new Trail Run/Hike as part of the Gravel Day experience in October.

Introduced as a new event in 2023, Gravel Day takes place in the hills of Athens County.

Pelotonia President and CEO Joe Apgar said Pelotonia is always looking for ways to bring more people into the community, adding that a running or walking component is something the community has been requesting for years.

“This year is just the perfect opportunity for us to continue to grow that event, continue to just expand and reach out to more people,” Apgar said. “I think this disease, cancer, just impacts everybody. So, we’re just constantly trying to evolve and think about how we can bring more and more people into the fold and become advocates for this community.”

Registration for Pelotonia is now open.

Ride Weekend happens Aug. 2-3, with Gravel Day and the new Trail Run/Hike set for Oct. 4.
