Red Robin to close Easton restaurant amid financial hardship

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Red Robin’s Easton location is set to permanently close as the chain considers shuttering restaurants across the country.

Red Robin revealed last week in its quarterly earnings report that it may shut down around 70 underperforming locations upon the expiration of their current leases. The company experienced a $54.5 million decline in revenue from 2023 to 2024, and stated the anticipated closures will help repay debt.

The Red Robin at Easton, located at 3977 Morse Crossing, got word from corporate that it is one of the locations that will shut down, according to a team member with the restaurant. The eatery’s last day will be Sunday.

When it comes to what other locations may close, Red Robin has not shared any specific details. However, the company did say the closures are expected over the next five years as leases expire, and that the company is anticipating the closure of 10 to 15 restaurants this year.

Central Ohio is home to four other Red Robin restaurants that may be at risk of closure, including locations in Hilliard, Pickerington, Grove City, and Polaris.

Red Robin, known for its burgers and bottomless steak fries, first opened in Seattle in 1969 and had nearly 500 restaurants as of late 2024 across the United States and British Columbia, Canada.

The chain has restaurants in all but five U.S. states — North Dakota, Wyoming, Mississippi, West Virginia, and Vermont. More than 80% of Red Robin locations are company-owned, and the remaining are franchises.
