See the classic 1970s movies being shown at Gateway Film Center

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Godfather, Rocky and more will be shown as part of a local cinema’s month-long series dedicated to movies from the 1970s.


Gateway Film Center’s newest series, “The 1970s: Pushing the Boundaries,” will feature 30 of the defining films of the decade. Christopher Hamel, President and CEO of the theater, said Gateway is “thrilled to bring these masterpieces back to the big screen.”

“The 1970s was a transformative decade for cinema, characterized by bold storytelling, innovative filmmaking techniques, and unforgettable performances,” Hamel said.

Starting Aug. 1 and lasting through Sept. 1, Gateway will show the following movies:

Gateway reopened in May 2021 after closing its doors the previous March for the COVID-19 pandemic. In the three years since, it has undergone a variety of changes, including cleaner facilities and a speakeasy.
