COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Two people, including a 17-year-old, have pleaded guilty in connection with a 2023 fatal shooting at a northeast Columbus Dairy Queen, authorities say.

Kiyaire Blow, 21 pleaded guilty to aggravated murder with a three-year-firearm specification and Dreyton Lane, 17 pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and involuntary manslaughter with a three-year firearm specification, according to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office.

Five people were arrested in connection with the August 2023 shooting in the Dairy Queen parking lot on the 1500 block of Schrock Road. Authorities say an investigation showed that Blow set up a deal to trade firearms with Nathaniel Joe-Summerall, 19 in the parking lot on social media.

Blow, Lane, and three others drove to the meeting spot, and decided to rob the victim of the guns instead of making the trade, officials say.

When Blow tried to take the gun away from Joe-Summerall, a struggle ensued and according to authorities, Blow and the other co-defendants fired their guns, striking Joe-Summerall multiple times.

Joe-Summerall was killed. Blow arrived at an area hospital with a gunshot wound, following the incident, officials said.

Lane was not part of the gunfire but was armed with a firearm and stole one of the victim’s guns. He fled from the scene before discarding the weapon, officials said.

Blow and Lane are scheduled to be sentenced on May 21. The prosecutors and the defense are jointly recommending a prison term of 23 years to life for Blow and 15-19.5 years for Lane.

In all, five people were arrested and charged in connection to the shooting, including three juveniles.
