COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A bistro serving classic French cuisine is opening in the heart of Downtown this week.

Chouette will open at the corner of Gay and High streets Tuesday. Each dish on the bistro’s menu is a testament to its passion for French cuisine, according to its website.

“Our culinary journey is an ode to the timeless allure of French gastronomy, enriched with an innovative twist that adds an element of surprise to every bite,” Chouette’s website said.

Freshly baked bread that’s made in-house will be served at the start of each dining experience. The bread will follow what the restaurant called a cherished tradition — a “warm bread and butter ritual.”

Wine and cocktails will also be offered at Chouette. The wine menu will feature mainly French wines, and the cocktail menu will include French-inspired drinks.

Chouette translates to “owl” in French but can also be used in casual conversation to mean “cool” or “nice.” The restaurant’s parent company Makeready said the name evokes age-old wisdom and boundless creativity in France’s cuisine.

Starting Tuesday, Chouette will be open from 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 4 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
