DUBLIN, Ohio (WCMH) — A central Ohio director’s commercial will have the biggest audience a television advertisement can get when it airs during the Super Bowl.
Dublin native Dylan Bradshaw and his co-director and best friend Nate Norell were announced as the winners of the “Doritos Crash the Super Bowl” contest. The two won $1 million and their 30-second commercial will air during Super Bowl LIX on Sunday. The two decided to enter the Doritos contest after its return from an eight-year hiatus and were congratulated on Monday’s Today show on NBC4.
The winning commercial is called “Abduction” where an alien fanatic wrestles with a UFO over a bag of Doritos. Out of thousands of entries, their commercial was picked as the champion. “I love science fiction. Big Spielberg, George Lucas fan growing up and we just wanted to make something that we love,” Bradshaw said on Today. “Whether we win or not, we would just have a great portfolio piece.”
Bradshaw, now living in Los Angeles, graduated from Dublin Coffman High School in 2015 while Norrell is from the Dominican Republic and earned a cinema and media arts degree from Biola University.
Bradshaw said it has always been his dream to be a film director with millions of people seeing his work. That dream will come true with the Super Bowl’s average audience over the past five years sitting at 106 million people.
“I googled it, I think it would cost around $7 million to show a Super Bowl ad in 30 seconds which is absurd. To show this to 200 million people, at least, worldwide would be life changing,” said Bradshaw. You can watch a previous report in the video player below.

PepsiCo’s Tina Mahal, the senior vice president of marketing in North America, said the ad is the “ultimate embodiment” of Doritos. “They truly pushed the bounds of creativity with their Abduction ad,” said Mahal. “We can’t wait to showcase their vision on the biggest stage in advertising, as we know the spot will inspire our fans to continue stepping outside of what is expected.”
Super Bowl LIX kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Sunday when the Kansas City Chiefs face the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans. The Chiefs are looking to become the first team to win three straight Super Bowls while Philadelphia chases its second Vince Lombardi trophy.
