CARROLL, Ohio (WCMH) — A massage parlor in Fairfield County is being investigated by Homeland Security for human trafficking.
According to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, search warrants were served Monday on Elegant Massage on the 3700 block of Old Columbus Road NW in Carroll, by Homeland Security Investigations Task Force and the sheriff’s office; in addition, the business owner’s home was also searched.
During the searches, law enforcement officers allegedly found people they believe are human trafficking victims as well as financial records and electronic devices officials said are indicative of human trafficking.
The investigation was started after reports of illegal activity at the massage parlor, including suspected human trafficking, labor exploitation, and other offenses, the sheriff’s office said.
The suspected human trafficking victims were given access to victim services and resources.
As of Monday, no arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed.
