MILLERSPORT, Ohio (WCMH) – Fairfield County deputies are investigating what is believed to be the discovery of human remains found in a wooded area on Sunday.

According to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 5300 block of Geiger Road of Walnut Township, between Millersport and Pleasantville, Ohio, after receiving reports of a possible body found.

Upon arrival, deputies confirmed the presence of what appeared to be human remains and investigators began to process the scene for evidence.

The remains have been taken to the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office for examination and identification. The sheriff’s office said a cause of death will be revealed after an autopsy.
