GROVEPORT, Ohio (WCMH) – The Groveport Chief of Police has been placed on administrative leave due to conduct against city policy.

According to Fraternal Order of Police President Brian Steel, he was informed that Groveport Chief Casey Adams was placed on leave for allegedly sexually harassing a Groveport police officer.

Steel, and Law Director for the City of Groveport Kevin Shannon confirmed that Adams was placed on leave effective March 4. Shannon stated the matter stems from “an alleged violation of city policy”.

Captain Kurt Blevins has been named acting chief in Adams’ absence while a third-party investigation takes place.

“If this disturbing allegation is true, we expect him to be held accountable,” Steel said. “I applaud the Groveport Mayor for taking swift action and conducting an independent investigation rather than brushing under the rug.”

Adams, who joined the Groveport Police Department in 2001 and named chief in 2021, remains listed as Chief of Police on the Groveport Police Department’s website, with Blevins listed as Captain.
