Hundreds of law enforcement officers from federal, state, county, city and township agencies are participating in a large-scale mass-casualty training exercise in north Columbus today.
More than 250 people from various law enforcement agencies are participating in the all-day exercise at the JP Morgan Chase campus on Polaris Parkway. A spokesperson for the Columbus Division of Police said there should be no impact to surrounding businesses or residences but people in the area may notice a large amount of first-responder activity.
Bystanders should not be alarmed, as the exercise is only a drill designed to help first responders prepare for a mass-casualty event. The training will reinforce and improve upon current agency policies and help officials from all different levels work together before a disaster strikes.
Today’s training is expected to wrap up at 5pm.
