Jackknifed semi, fuel spill closes I-70 east of downtown Columbus

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 just east of downtown Columbus are closed due to a semi-truck accident.

The accident happened around 8:55am Sunday on I-70 east at  Main street. The Ohio Department of Transportation says a jackknifed tractor-trailer rig has all lanes f I-70 east blocked.


All lanes of I-70 east are closed between Main Street and the Miller-Kelton ramp. According to Columbus Division of Fire Battalion Chief Steve Martin, the truck was carrying dry goods, but one of the fuel tanks was damaged in the crash. Hazmat crews are on the scene working to contain the deisel fuel spill. 

The closure is expected to last several hours while crews work to clear the roadway.
