Who:

Every person or family needs multiple carbon monoxide detectors in their home.

“Carbon monoxide is present every time you’re burning a fossil fuel,” said Columbus Division of Fire battalion chief Steve Martin explained.

What :

“The major brand that we carry is the First Alert which is one of the big brands,” said Paige Decker at Schreiner Ace Hardware. “We have the smoke detector and carbon monoxide in one. It’s nice because it’s one alarm and you can get both major [detectors] that you need for your home.”

When:

“Flu-like symptoms is what we’re looking for,” Martin said.

Where:

“The two things that you want to look at with [detectors] is– where can I put it that it’s going to detect carbon monoxide earlier and where can I put it where I can hear it if it goes off,” Martin explained.

Why:

“The scary thing about carbon monoxide is that it’s colorless and odorless,” said Martin.
