The Lancaster Police Department is searching for a person of interest in the investigation into a hit-and-run accident that left a bicyclist dead.

Police say Kevin P. Johnson, 56, was riding his bicycle on June 12 around 9:30pm when he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of West Wheeling Street and Welsh Avenue. Johnson died from his injuries.

Police say several tips have led them to the vehicle involved in the crash. Investigators believe Jamie K. Gregory, 44, of Lancaster, is a person of interest in the case.

Gregory currently has an active warrant for his arrest issued by the Fairfield County Municipal Court’s Probation Department for absconding from probation. Gregory is described as a white male with brown hair and green eyes. He is 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighs approximately 220 pounds. Gregory was last seen driving a gray, 1990s model Ford F-150 pickup truck. The truck has a white bed cap and the grill and part of the hood were recently spray painted black.

Anyone with information about Gregory’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Lancaster Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 740-687-6680, ext. 4535.
