Columbus woman, 21, dies in Licking County crash

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A Columbus woman is dead after a crash in Licking County on Tuesday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 19-year-old Columbus man was driving a 2013 Ford Expedition north on State Route 37 near Refugee Road at approximately 12:40 p.m. when he crossed the center lane and hit a 2019 Hino box truck, which was traveling south on SR-37.


Rachel Jared, 21, a passenger in the Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 19-year-old driver and a second passenger, a 42-year-old man, were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their conditions are not known. Police did not say if the driver of the truck, a 35-year-old Columbus man, was injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
