Love: it’s a small word with a big meaning that’s getting an even bigger platform on a busy Columbus street.
“If it brightens one person’s day and that spreads along to somebody else, I feel like it’s done its job,” said Dan Rosu.
Rosu is spearheading the Columbus “Love on Every Billboard” campaign. A red billboard bearing only the word “love” sits along Cleveland Ave. between Long and Spring streets. It was erected Tuesday afternoon.
“The world obviously needs more love– not to be cliché,” Rosu added. “You see stuff on Facebook and people arguing in politics and religion and everything that’s going on. Everyone is just so negative, and it’s constant back-and-forth and bickering. I feel like a simple message like this is just perfect.”
The movement started on the west coast, in Washington, in October 2018 and has quickly gained momentum. There are now more than 20 “love” billboards from coast to coast.
Rosu says the word has a bigger meaning: “I guess it’s not just in the traditional sense as if you love your parents or your significant other. It’s kind of just loving anything in life, even the bad times. Not everything is going to be a happy moment. You’re going to have your ups and downs– just loving the moment regardless.”
