COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Police have identified the man killed in a hit and run accident in southeast Columbus Saturday.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Refugee Road and Tennyson Boulevard around 6:07am Saturday on the report of a pedestrian struck. When officers arrived, they found one person, identified as 40-year-old William Ray Johnson.

Police say Johnson was crossing Refugee Road at Tennyson Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 54-year-old Munjed Hinnawi.

Johnson was thrown into eastbound lanes where he was struck by two additional vehicles. The third was driven by 53-year-old Cheryl Flowers.

The second vehicle left the scene and there is no description.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
