COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Columbus Police say a man shot early Sunday morning on the city’s east side has died.

The shooting happened around 2:39am at the Photo Shop Lounge on the 1400 block of East Fifth Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a male victim, later identified as 28-year-old Dominic Davon Williams, with a gunshot wound inside the lounge.

Williams was transported to Grant Medical Center in life-threatening condition where he underwent emergency treatment. Williams succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 7:44am.

Witnesses told police that a brief altercation occurred inside the lounge just before the shooting happened.

The shooting remains under investigation.

This is the 123rd homicide in the city of Columbus this year.
