MARION, Ohio (WCMH) — A 28-year-old man was found guilty last week of rape against a child and could spend at least the next 60 years in prison.

A Marion County jury convicted Rakeem Ramere Ginyard on Wednesday of six counts of rape, a first-degree felony. Ginyard was convicted of raping a 10-year-old girl over several weekends between late 2021 and the middle of 2022 at a Marion home.

Each charge carries a sentence of between 10 years to life in prison.

Ginyard frequently visited the victim’s Marion home, where the girl lived with her family, according to the Marion County prosecutor’s office.

“This verdict rips the mask off a predator who betrayed a child’s trust,” Marion County Prosecutor Ray Grogan said in a press release. “Our team poured everything into giving this brave survivor her day in court.”

Ginyard will be sentenced at a later unscheduled date, during which the victim and her family will be allowed to offer statements. Should he be released from prison, Ginyard will have to register as a Tier III sex offender for the rest of his life.
