MARYSVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) – A 29-year-old man has been charged with attempted aggravated murder in relation to the shooting a Marysville police officer.
Dustin Edward Ohm has been identified as the suspect who shot a Marysville police officer on Friday morning. He has been charged with attempted aggravated murder, a first-degree felony, and will be facing additional charges, according to the City of Marysville.
The charges stem from an incident that began at 2:16 a.m. on Friday, when Marysville police were called to the 900 block of White Oak Court regarding a domestic dispute. Police made contact with a man believed to be involved in the situation.
Police said that during this interaction the man pulled out a gun and fired shots at the officers from inside his vehicle. The officers returned fire, but the suspect fled the scene, striking a Marysville cruiser and several other vehicles in the process. One Marysville police officer was injured in the shooting. The officer has since been treated and released from a local hospital.
Union County Sheriff Department deputies and troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol joined Marysville PD in the pursuit of the suspect, who was spotted on U.S. 33 and State Route 31. The chase continued westbound on U.S. 33 before the suspect’s vehicle became disabled in the median of U.S. 33 near Northwest Parkway.
The man reportedly exited the vehicle armed with a gun and was shot multiple times by Union County deputies. The suspect was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a Columbus area hospital. His condition is currently unknown.
