Meet Max: He is a Brittany Spaniel-Beagle mix on a mission to find rescue dogs, like himself, a loving forever home.
NBC4 Today Weekend Anchor Hattie Hawks and her husband adopted Max from a small Central Ohio rescue called Pets Without Parents. Every week, Max and Hattie introduce viewers to other rescue dogs in search of forever homes.
This week, Hattie and Max stopped by a Fuzzy Pawz Shih Tzu Rescue foster home to meet Rocky, an 11-year-old Shih Tzu who came to the rescue after his owner passed away, and Devon, an 8-year-old Pekingese who makes the word “friendly” an understatement.
Rocky is active for his age and absolutely loves people and other dogs.
“He runs when he is excited. He runs across the room to get a toy or get a treat or just to see you, so it is very cute,” Katie Rowswell with Fuzzy Pawz Shih Tzu Rescue said.
Rocky would do best with a family who is willing to take him for a walk every now and then but it doesn’t need to be a long one.
Devon, on the other hand, is a “hands-on” dog.
“He loves people, he loves animals, he loves toys and he loves to be held,” Rowswell said. “I think he is great as an only dog. He’s very happy and just wants to be with his person.”
Devon did have some skin issues when he first came to Fuzzy Pawz, but he’s getting better and the eye condition he was born with doesn’t bother him one bit.
