Max’s Mission: Sweet Staffordshire Terrier mix Cal still up for adoption

Meet Max: He is a Brittany Spaniel-Beagle mix on a mission to find rescue dogs, like himself, a loving forever home.

NBC4 Today Weekend Anchor Hattie Hawks and her husband adopted Max from a small Central Ohio rescue called Pets Without Parents. Every week, Max and Hattie introduce viewers to other rescue dogs in search of forever homes.

Earlier this year, Hattie and Max stopped by a Cause for Canines foster home to meet Cal. He was featured on Max’s Mission in May, but this sweet 1-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix is still waiting for his forever home.

Cal came to Cause for Canines after living in an abusive environment for months. After receiving medical treatment, he began staying with his foster family and has become one happy dog.

“Cal has a little human foster sister that he loves, and he puts her to bed at night,” Samantha Anderson, Cal’s foster mother, said. “He is very sweet.”

Cal loves treats and toys and would do best with an active family or a family that has another energetic dog for him to play with.

“He has a lot of energy, so there are some situations where a dog may not like him of they’re not energetic like Cal is,” Anderson said. “He has been in several situations with dogs where he has done well.”

Cal is housebroken and does well with being in a crate.
